The IoT revolution is now a reality. However, two major concerns have arisen: how to locate the billions of nodes and how to make them secure.
First, without any information about the exact position of the device, the collected data is losing most of its value. To this point, we will talk about the capability for objects, even as small as a key ring, to be accurately located and the capability for objects, such as home robots, to self-position. Current radio frequency (RF) technologies are only capable of a few meters of accuracy, but you can't blame them, as they were not designed for location. Thankfully, new RF technologies have surfaced, like the 802.15.4-2011 standard, which is capable of sub 10cm accuracy. Such performance is opening the door to breakthrough applications across the IoT space.
As the IoT brings even more connectivity into everyday life, this session will expand on how using current micro-location technologies can make these connected devices safer. Using three case studies with the latest RF technologies - indoor micro navigation, intelligent houses and security / payment, Luc will highlight how knowing the exact location of devices when they communicate can drastically improve the security of IoT applications.
The differences between current location-finding technologies including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and UWB micro-location and how accuracy will be a key component to success in the IoT space

Welcome! You can use the Session Scheduler tool to browse sessions and build a custom event schedule. Once you've saved your personal schedule, you can access it from the free GDC Europe Mobile app (available approximately 30 days before the event). Note: use the same login/password on the Mobile app that you set up on this web site.
Step 1. Create an account. Use the "Create Account" button at the top of the right-hand corner.
Step 2. Choose a view. Select either the "List" or the "Grid" icon. (It's the same data, just a different view of the sessions.)
Step 3. Choose your sessions. Click the "Add" or "Remove" button next to each session to add it to, or remove it from, your personalized schedule.
Step 4. Review your schedule. Push the "My Schedule" button in the left column to view your selected sessions.
